Question/Challenge:
Belcorp, a leading beauty and direct sales corporation with operations in 14 countries, is constantly seeking new ways to add value to both its consultants and the business. In 2016, they posed a breakthrough question: “How can we unleash the full potential of our consultants to help them grow their businesses, increase their earnings, and confidently overcome any challenge?” This question underscores Belcorp’s commitment to enhancing the success and satisfaction of its extensive consultant network throughout the Americas.
Strategy:
To tackle this challenge, I designed and facilitated a two-day Design Thinking workshop, engaging a Belcorp team of 15 individuals from various levels and departments. Together with a team of four Design Thinking facilitators, we ensured the process kept consultants at the center of every decision. The strategy was further enhanced with insights from trends, competitive intelligence, and inspiration from other industries, and unfolded as follows:
Understanding Consumer Needs: Over two and a half days, we delved deeply into consumer insights, uncovering crucial insights and tensions impacting the consultants.
Co-Creation of Solutions: Together with Belcorp teams, we co-created innovative concepts and prototypes designed to empower consultants and enhance their ability to tackle business challenges.
Implementation Roadmap: The teams identified five strategic focuses and developed an actionable plan to ensure the successful implementation of the solutions.
Outcome:
The initiative delivered both tangible and intangible benefits for Belcorp:
Innovative Concepts and Prototypes: The co-creation process resulted in actionable ideas, strategic concepts, and prototypes addressing key consultant needs and challenges.
Strategic Focuses and Action Plans: Five strategic focuses were established, alongside a detailed action plan to guide the implementation of the solutions, ensuring feasibility and sustainability.
Committed Teams: The process energized teams, fostering a commitment to implementing the designed solutions and driving continued growth and success for Belcorp’s consultants.
By utilizing Design Thinking, Belcorp empowered its consultant network with the tools and strategies needed to unlock their full potential, enhancing both their personal and business growth.
